My Pokemon Nuzlocke
2025-03-23
I've been going through my very first Pokemon Nuzlocke! A Pokemon Nuzlocke is a self-imposed challenge run where you can only catch the first wild Pokemon encountered in each area, and if a Pokemon faints, it is permanently dead and must be released or stored in the PC.
My team so far...

That's Charizard, Florges, Garchomp, Lapras, Sigilyph, and Steelix! A pretty good team for a Nuzlocke, I think! I chose Pokemon X to Nuzlocke because it's a much easier game, and you can encounter really good Pokemon really easily!
My Pokemon nicknames are;
- Volvagia the Charizard
- Great Fairy the Florges
- Dynalfos the Garchomp
- Mipha the Lapras
- Odolwa the Sigilyph
- and Thumper the Steelix.
I just beat the 6th gym (Olympia) and I'm at the part with the ULTIMATE WEAPON!!!
Lysandre of Team Flare wants to destroy the world or whatever. I think he wants to do this because it'll somehow make the world more beautiful?
Makes no sense, but ok!

A little tear falls off his face after he says some speech about that.

He challenges me to a battle, and I win! After that, I make my way further down to deactivate the ultimate weapon. Sorry, I did this all the night before I'm writing this so my memory is a bit blurry.
On my way to the ultimate weapon, Shauna appears.

I used to really hate this girl. Pokemon Y was my first Pokemon game, and Shauna just got on my nerves ever since I first played it.
She's started to grow on me now, though. I think she's cute, and relatable. I remember in the start of the game, she says something about wanting to
have a team of cute Pokemon. I used to be like that too, where my team could only consist of cute looking 'mons.
My definition of 'cute' varies widely though, so it didn't really stop me from having powerful Pokemon on my team. For example,
Garchomp counted as cutesy to me, so it could stay.
I don't do that rule anymore, especially since I've started my Nuzlocke.
I encountered a Sigilyph on Route 10 and I HAD to use it since it was the first Pokemon I encountered on that route.
It was a bit disappointing, because I was looking for Eevee. I didn't really expect to get one anyway because Eevee's encounter rate is lower in that route.
Sigilyph has been a pretty good addition to my team. It's a reliable Psychic type.
I did eventually get an Eevee from an in-game trade. I didn't know this until this year (I really thought I knew everything about this game!!!) but you can get an Eevee from an in-game trade in XY.
You get it by going to any hotel and talking to a maid there. If you talk to her for 3 days(? I think) in a row, she'll offer to trade you an Eevee! And you can trade her any Pokemon in return.
The Eevee is named Stevie. I didn't really like that name, so I used hacks to change it to Ciela, which is the name of the Fairy companion in Zelda: Phantom Hourglass!
Anyways, back to what I was saying...
On my way downstairs, I kept encountering double battles. This is where I lost my favorite Pokemon on my team... Thumper the Steelix. Which I got from an in-game trade, by the way! I can't remember who or where... I think it was in a Pokemon Center.

There it happened... RIP Thumper. Off to the Dead, Defeated PC box you go...

If you're wondering how I have a Charizard AND a Venusaur, well, that's because I had my sister trade me a Charmander egg. I don't know
if that's allowed in a Nuzlocke, but it's whatever, I wanna have fun in my playthrough! I'm mostly following the Nuzlocke rules otherwise.
Anyways, I replaced my Thumper with that Eevee I got from an in-game trade.

And I evolved her into...

SYLVEON!!!!! What a cutie! That's why I named her Ciela... Because she was gonna be a fairy type!
Anyways, after replacing my poor Thumper with my Ciela, I made my way to the little place where I can press the buttons to start the Ultimate Weapon.
It didn't matter what button I pressed, either way the guy set off the Ultimate Weapon. It went off in Geosenge Town.

My condolences to whoever lived in those little houses.
So I went to Team Flare's secret HQ and found the Ultimate Weapon. It's the Box Legendary. Of course it is.

Oh no... Now I have to battle Lysandre.... He has a Mega Gyarados. It's super strong, and its moveset is pretty good.

Great. It's super effective, but it barely even touched its HP.
This is the point where I gave up.

I know I shouldn't do that in a Nuzlocke, but I seriously had to. I was so unprepared, I know it would've wiped out my whole team! I turned off my console and I plan on
doing extra training (and overlevelling...) and going at it again!
The last time I did something unprepared in this playthrough... My whole team was knocked out. I gave myself a pass and let myself continue, but I wasn't
going to give myself any more passes, so this time I turned off my console before I lost my team.
Next, I'm going to replay X AGAIN but with a randomizer. I love finding new ways to experience this game.
