KITT

how i joined the fandom

well I have always liked to draw since I was little, and I related a lot to human-like animal characters. I had always drawn anthropomorphic animals, and made characters. one of my earliest characters was Roxy/Scardey the Cat. i made her up when I was 7, and i still draw her sometimes.

i first heard about furries when watching theodd1sout. he had a video about fables, and since fables have a lot of talking animals, furries got mentioned. he said something about how they wear fuzzy animal costumes. 9 year old me was intrigued. i looked them up and was like. this is fucking awesome. these are my people

i cycled through several fursonas and ended up with Violet the cat.

that's her! she's awesome. i'm 16 as of writing this, and violet has existed for 6 years now! yay!

i remember having discord at a 11 (i really shouldn't have.) and my furry profile picture made a bunch of people angry. I got told to kill myself. i was literally 11 years old. imagine telling some kid they should commit suicide because you don't like their funny animal character??? insane.

it's also weird how many times people claimed furries are a threat to children, when as a little kid I never felt unsafe in the fandom. furries that are horrible people ABSOLUTELY do exist, but i don't think it's any more prominent than it is among people in general.

i have autism, so making friends has always been really difficult. being a part of the community really helped with that, especially as a kid.

reasons why I love the furry fandom

  • so much amazing artists! I could go on and on forever. the craftsmanship is insane!!!!
  • safe for queer folk
  • safe for neurodivergent folk
  • creativity
  • self expression
  • there is genuine appreciation for artists and they're paid for what they're worth
  • so many nice people yay!!!!!

my fursuit

i should debut her on the internet already...!!!

here she is! I made all of her myself! (the pic is kinda low quality sorry...)

i'm currently finished with the pants, I need to work on the feet, hand paws, and tail. The head is about done, but she does need a neck and teeth and some edits to her hair.

i've worn her in public a few times. I got barked at, and photos were taken without my consent... sigh. but I also got a lot of smiles and made some people laugh. so it was worth it.

making this has made me very interested in making costumes for movies, or being a mascot... I think I'd enjoy that. But i dunno!
